Begun as a way of fostering a continuing link between the Halede and EJM community, the 5-Year School Lunch Program has been an amazing success:
$12 600  (total needed to feed Halede school for 5 years) was raised in 2 months time. Donors have committed to giving $2 400 per year between 2016-2019. As a result, we increased our commitment to the community by funding an additional lunch program in a second Nagarkot-area school that because of its remote location does not get visits from international schools (Shree Devi Primary School). With 75 students enrolled and 50-55 attending on a regular basis, the budgeted cost is: $4 800 the first year (includes utensil purchases) and $3 600 per year thereafter for a total of $19 200; two-school total = $31 800. To date, we have raised (including donation commitments) $31 800 for the Lunch Program.

In addition, we have:
•     Financed the purchase of  fleece blankets for families still living in tented homes following the April 25 earthquake.
•    Sold $1000 worth of products made by the women’s cooperative run by Himalayan Voluntourism
•    Donated $13 000 for emergency food and shelter immediately following the earthquake.

During our trip we shot our documentary. It illustrates the issues concerning the Nepali educational system and what Himalayan Voluntourism is doing to develop education in Nepal. You will also be able to discover an overview of this beautiful country. You will also understand how YOU can make a difference for the children in Nepal. By buying our dvd you are donating to Nepal, because 100% of the profit made by the sales will go directly to Nepal. The DVD cost 10€.

In order to symbolically thank the Nepalese community that took care of us before and after the earthquake, we have designed and produced a t-shirt. It is a white t-shirt (100% cotton) on which is printed a design "Thanks A Lot Nagarkot". Nagarkot being the region of Nepal we visited. The price of this t-shirt is 15€. The entirety of the sales revenue (15€) will be used to help the community we visited

On April 18th 2015 we left for Nepal. After briefly visiting Kathmandu, we  arrived in Nagarkot, where for five days, we taught in a local school. The experience was unforgettable as we learned as much from the Nepali students as they did from us.

On April 25th 2015 Nepal was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7.8. We were playing with Nepali kids at a learning center when we felt the earthquake. Everyone had time to come out safely of the building. Considering the number of deaths caused by this natural disaster, we were very lucky. Thanks to the generosity of our Nepali hosts, we spent the 4 days following the earthquake in safe and warm conditions. We will be forever grateful to the Nepalis that took care of us.

We are back from Nepal with an incredible amount of stories to share. We kept a logbook of our adventure. You can access it by clicking here. During this trip we also filmed a documentary on education in Nepal.

Our trip

Our products

We are a group of junior year students from École Jeanine Manuel in Marcq-en-Baroeul, France. We created our own social enterprise in October 2014. We travelled to Nepal in April 2015 to meet the community. Therefore we were there when Nepal was hit by an earthquake, on April 25th. Since that event, the mission of NEPAL, Inc. has taken a new dimension, given that the community we met was heavily affected by the earthquake. In order to collect money, to help them, we have launched the fundraising campaign "Thanks A Million". We are working hand-in-hand with the Nepalese charity Himalayan Voluntourism, who make sure the entirety of the money we collect is used to help the community.
